Euclid Beach Park might be involved in more wonderful memories for many Clevelanders than nearly anyplace else. Built in 1895 and sadly closed in 1969, had the park survived the urban renewal idea it would certainly be on the National Register of Historic Places today. The Rocket Ships ride was absolutely one of the parks all-time favorite attractions. At least one of the rocket cars survives to this day as a parade attraction in northeast Ohio.

The National Air Races were first held in Cleveland in 1925. For the next 20 years they called Cleveland home more often than any other city. They drew the best flyers of the time, including James Doolittle, Wiley Post, Roscoe Turner, Amelia Earhart, Pancho Barnes and others from the pioneer age of aviation. Two of the most popular events were the Thompson Trophy Race, a closed-course race where aviators raced their planes around pylons, and the Bendix Trophy Race across most of the USA.

Built in 1912 to feed a rapidly growing city and Ohio City neighborhood, this Neo-Classical style palace of food remains one of the most loved jewels in Cleveland's crown. The market features nearly 100 stalls inside and 85 produce stalls outside. This beautiful building was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1973. The architectural style of the market even inspired the architects of Progressive Field.

Built in 1930 by the Van Sweringen brothers who also developed Shaker Heights, the Union Terminal and the Terminal Tower (later Tower City) is rightfully the most recognized icon in Cleveland's history. From its completion until 1964, at fifty-two stories and 708 feet tall (771 feet including the flag pole), the Terminal Tower was the tallest building in North America outside of New York City. The Union Terminal was front and center for the golden age of American rail travel, and remains the essential symbol of all things Cleveland to this day.
