A lot of times when I'm trying to decide what will be my next subject I play a little mental game. I ask myself what would I be most thrilled to find hidden in a attic or antique store. I've always dreamed of finding a cache of posters from the age of the Works Progress Administration just like they did at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. hidden in the buildings attic. Also animals have always been one of my favorite subjects. The possibilities for stylizing their forms are endless. I put the two ideas together and viola'. With all my Zoo prints I like to find the most iconic aspect of the featured animal. In this case it’s the extreme height of the adult Giraffes and their attention to the happy new member of the herd.
