Rocky River Bridge Prints
Most of my prints have something historical as their subject matter. A place that has become over the years a part of Cleveland’s cultural fabric. This print of the Rocky River Bridge is a little different in that it’s subject sadly no longer exists.
Built in 1910 the Rocky River bridge was a engineering marvel for it’s day as it briefly held the record as the largest masonry arch in America, at 280'. I’m guessing the fact that the main arch was not steel reinforced is what eventually made the span unsafe and sadly short lived. I imagine if it still existed today it would be a landmark destination. Wishful thinking on my part to bring back something that was gone too soon
