CLE Neighborhood Prints
Part of a new series featuring the numerous small towns and suburbs that make up the whole of the Cleveland area, this print highlights a small (micro in fact) architectural gem in the Shaker Lakes park system between lower Shaker Lake and Coventry Rd. I happened upon this bridge by accident while scouting the nearby waterfall pedestrian bridge for a possible poster. So far I've only heard it was constructed by the Shakers themselves to traverse Doan Brook on their way to the local sawmill. This seems unlikely as it has an obvious Tudor style arch as it's main feature. That would put it's age at sometime in the 1900-1920 range when the whole Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights area was created and seriously hot for Tudor. The mystery of who created this has puzzled me since the moment I found it. If you know it's story send me an email I'd love to hear it. I hope you enjoy the dappled sun through the trees as much as I did on the day I first saw this scene.

Lakewood's 31 acre shoreline park is the crown jewel of it's park system. With facilities for everything from swimming to tennis to skateboarding and much more.
Off on the park's eastern edge it boasts it's own little gazebo along with a view of Cleveland's skyline that's second to none. A perfect place for life's important moments large or small.
With this piece I really wanted to capture the feeling of the misty distance and difference between the "big city'" of Cleveland and the small town feeling of Lakewood at sunrise.

Most of my prints have something historical as their subject matter. A place that has become over the years a part of Cleveland’s cultural fabric. This print of the Rocky River Bridge is a little different in that it’s subject sadly no longer exists.
Built in 1910 the Rocky River bridge was a engineering marvel for it’s day as it briefly held the record as the largest masonry arch in America, at 280'. I’m guessing the fact that the main arch was not steel reinforced is what eventually made the span unsafe and sadly short lived. I imagine if it still existed today it would be a landmark destination. Wishful thinking on my part to bring back something that was gone too soon

The real challenge in doing an iconic poster for Chagrin Falls Ohio is trying to pick just one subject. The Gazebo, The Popcorn Shop, the downtown shops and galleries are all rich subject matter, but nothing matches the falls themselves for their ability to draw people to them like a magnet. I wanted this view to focus almost solely on the cascading water and the patterns it makes as it hits the different layers of rock and moss on the face of the Falls. Curiosity must always be endulged too as countless rock hunters and tree climbers play at the waters edge.

Part of a new series featuring the numerous small towns and suburbs that make up the whole of the Cleveland area, this print highlights a classic street scene of a young couple strolling among the curving streets and turn-of-the century buildings of the Fairmount Rd. area. Have you guessed where it is? If you know Cleveland Heights you know it's the western wall of the old Alcazar Hotel building. One of Cleveland Heights most beloved landmarks.

As an old house person myself, anytime I would hear a mention of the Fairport Harbor Light I couldn’t help but to cheer on anyone willing to take up such a monumental challenge in historic restoration. It would be way beyond my skills. It appears that they are really getting a lot done toward a goal of restoring the light to it’s former glory for further generations in Fairport Harbor.
With this piece I wanted to depart from my usual more realistic style to reduce the scene even more. Using simplified geometric forms to portray the shapes, colors and light to evoke the feeling of being by the lakeshore on an early morning of a hot Summer beach day.

I think like a lot of people who don’t grow up Bay Village I was fooled by the The Huntington water tower at first site. I thought, It’s close to the lake, It’s shaped like a light house, What? It’s a water tower? OK. well, that works too. Although, it’s a little less romantic. The tower was used to irrigate the vineyards and orchards of John Huntington and look good doing it.

“I’ve purchased several of your items from Cain park and Willoughby arts festival. I love the Squires Castle duo that you did!
I am sending the Fairport Harbor lighthouse to my nephew in Georgia as a wedding gift!
Thank you for capturing the amazing places in northeastern Ohio! Your art is a way to always have a tangible memory close at hand.”
Cleveland’s own Little Italy and its Feast of the Assumption Festival take center stage in a print inspired by this neighborhood that flat knows how to throw a party. Every August thousands of festival goers flood Mayfield Rd. and surrounding streets to watch the parade and fireworks, ride the rides and to celebrate their Italian heritage by consuming just a little too much (Ok, just one more canoli) of the best Italian food Cleveland has to offer. Chef’s kiss!
